About ABQ CDL

Our Mission

ABQ CDL helps people in New Mexico to quickly and affordably earn a commercial driver’s license. Our accelerated training programs and funding opportunities make it possible for more people to earn a living in commercial driving, at little to no cost.

The programs we offer are open to anyone who wants to earn their CDL. Our six-week training programs will prepare our students to take the New Mexico CDL skills exam, with funding available to those who qualify.

We’re different from other CDL programs because almost all (95%) of our students qualify for funding, and because of our very small class sizes, which means you get more face-to-face time with your instructor.

Our CDL programs are supported by CNM Ingenuity, on behalf of Central New Mexico Community College, which provides educational and training opportunities in workforce areas like commercial driving.

Our Training Programs

Each of our CDL training programs is designed to be completed in six weeks, and includes online classroom instruction, along with behind-the-wheel training with experienced instructors.

• Class A program: training in how to operate vehicles like tractor-trailers

• Class B program: training to operate straight trucks and buses

• Other programs:

  • Endorsement training for Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Passenger (P) qualifications

  • CDL skills assessments and refresher classes

  • Customized training

Our Partners

ABQ CDL has partnered with several organizations in Central New Mexico, including Sandia National Labs, Bernalillo County, the New Mexico Air National Guard, the City of Albuquerque Aviation Department, Roadrunner Food Bank, PB&J Family Services, the Metropolitan Detention Center, Highway Supply (now RoadSafe Traffic Systems), and other organizations.

Our Accreditation

Our CDL training programs meet federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards.
